How it's calculated
- 1In add mode, GST = amount multiplied by the rate, and the total is amount plus GST.
- 2In remove mode, the base is the total divided by (1 + rate), and GST is the total minus the base.
- 3For an intra-state supply, GST splits equally into CGST and SGST.
- 4Choose the rate that applies to the goods or service (5, 12, 18, or 28 percent).

Frequently asked questions
How do I add GST to an amount?+
Multiply the base amount by the GST rate to get the GST, then add it to the base for the total. For example, 18% GST on Rs 1,000 is Rs 180, making the total Rs 1,180. This calculator does it in add mode.
How do I remove GST from an inclusive price?+
Divide the total by (1 + rate). For an 18% inclusive price of Rs 1,180, the base is 1,180 divided by 1.18, which is Rs 1,000, and the GST is Rs 180. Use remove mode for this.
What is the CGST and SGST split?+
For a supply within the same state, GST is shared equally between Central GST (CGST) and State GST (SGST). For inter-state supplies, it is charged as a single IGST instead. This calculator shows the intra-state CGST and SGST halves.
What GST rate applies to insurance?+
GST rates depend on the product and prevailing rules, which can change. Select the rate that applies to your case; if you are unsure, confirm the current rate for your product.
